South Tyneside Design Awards
The closing date for South Tyneside Council’s third Design Awards is 30 December 2005. Developments should have been completed in 2004 or 2005 and nomination is a simple process.
The aim of South Tyneside’s Good Design Awards is to recognise and encourage design excellence in a wide range of developments throughout the Borough. In its first two years of operation the scheme recognised 17 schemes including new buildings, conservation of old buildings and public art projects.
Councillor Alan Kerr, South Tyneside Council Design Champion and Chair of the Planning Committee said ‘Good design breeds confidence and pride among residents and visitors, and a good quality environment will also attract business investment to the Borough.’ Projects of any scale or size can be submitted, including interior design, landscape, streetscape and parks, and even house extensions. Works should have been completed in 2004 or 2005.
Nomination forms and full details can be found on South Tyneside Council’s web site. The deadline for entries is 30 December 2005. Award winners will be announced in February 2006.
