Champions in the North East visited Durham recently to find out about the process that has been driving the City of Durham’s long-term regeneration, the involvement of councillors, officers, consultants and public in this process and the operation of the new body ‘Durham City Vision’.

Building in Context – Training events for Design and Historic Environment Champions
Morpeth and Yarm
16 January and 23 January 2008
Northern Architecture are offering training to the Design and Historic Environment Champions in the North East’s 25 local authorities in how to achieve high quality building in historically sensitive contexts. These champions have a particular role to play in setting high standards for new development in the towns, cities and villages of the North East’s where new development is often thought of as a threat to an existing ‘historic’ environment. This training aims to show that a high quality historic environment both deserves and benefits from high quality new design, which can be of its time and not copy what was there before.
