Session 1
Session 1 covered the purpose of the group meeting and the potential future role of the group. It explained Northern Architecture’s offer; to work with the group to develop an Ouseburn specific approach to assessing and commenting on schemes seeking planning permission to build in the Ouseburn area. The session gave the planning policy context for the Ouseburn (see below for a list of these policies and strategies), demonstrating how this policy context will form the basis of how people can assess schemes. The group were also given an overview of the development process (a summary of this will appear on this page shortly), providing an important context that will help the group understand how developers may view the Ouseburn. The session concluded by looking at how the group, either together or as individuals, might want to apply this approach to assessing development in the Ouseburn. This included having a closer look at the idea of Neighbourhood Forums (see below for more information on Neighbourhood Forums).

Ouseburn Area Boundaries
We are working to the boundaries of the Ouseburn as detailed in the NewcastleGateshead Urban Core Area Action Plan (Draft Plan Main Report) document, the map is on page 126.
