The Northumbria University Architecture Society are pleased to announce the launch of their Article 25 Student Chapter.  The Student Chapter will be launched with a lecture by Article 25 at 6 pm on Tuesday, 25 October in Nixon Hall, Northumbria University. Â
Article 25 are a UK-based charitable NGO, working in development and disaster relief, to realise the 25th Article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to adequate shelter and housing for all.
The aims of the Chapter are to:
* Â Â Â Raise awareness amongst the student body and professionals of international development and poverty reduction, and how important the built environment is in improving quality of life, and acting to bring different disciplines together
* Â Â Â Inspire and support academic research which is concerned with addressing poverty reduction and the advancement of human rights
* Â Â Â Challenge and gain the commitment of students and practicing professionals to remain aware of these issues and to contribute their skills to addressing them
* Â Â Â Raise funds to support Article 25's aims

50% of the entry fees will go towards supporting the next Article 25 Northumbria University Chapter event and 50% is contributed to Article 25's work in disaster relief and work in the developing world.
