Northern Architecture’s Education Workshop Programme 2008/9 is now available.
The programme contains a set of Northern Architecture’s well developed workshops which teachers and schools can select from and which our education team will deliver in schools or in the surrounding area. Designed to help schools and teachers address many aspects of the curriculum and the Every Child Matters agenda, the workshops cover key stage 1, 2, 3, and 4. Each workshop, at every level, encourages and supports pupils in understanding and exploring their built environment and challenges them to think about the places in which they live now and how these places might change in the future.
Featured workshops are:
The A Factor,
Architexts and
Architexture.
The A Factor (Design in a Day OR Design in an Hour)
Working to an ‘architect’s brief’ teams of pupils in Key Stages 2 – 4 design and make a sketch model of either a Chillooterie, Super Structure or Think Bubble.
ArchiTEXTS
Working with a professional writer, pupils in Key Stages 2/3 visit a local building and create written work in response to it.
ArchiTEXTURE
Exploring the materials and textures in the buildings, places and spaces near to you, pupils in Key Stage 1/2 collect examples of texture and use them to create 3D building blocks and construct their dream town.
Workshops cost £200 for a full day with a class of up to 30 children, or £250 for Design in an Hour with 3 classes of up to 30 children each.
