Visions, dreams and realities in the modern city.
2nd December 2008, PAST EVENT, Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne
In December 2008 Northern Architecture and the Laing Art Gallery held an event asking these questions: Can you have a vision for the future of a city, or do visions build nightmares and ignore day-to-day needs and realities? How has Newcastle been shaped by previous generations of visionaries? Does the city have a vision for its future, and if so who made this and who shares this?
TW Museums have now produced an audio file of the evening's talk/debate as part of their CultureCast Talks; so you can now listen to how our speakers David Slater (Newcastle City Council) – the city regeneration director; Paul Noble (from the exhibition Elevation) – the artist; Brian Ham (Metnor Property Group) - the developer and Graeme Rigby, the cutural commentator, all gave there responses to these questions and how the public responded.
