Spaceshaper Taster Session
24th September 2010, 9.30-14.00, The Corner Room, Dance City, Temple Street, Newcastle
Are you involved in improving public spaces? Large or small, urban, suburban or rural, playspaces, pocket parks or country parks, housing estates or streets? If so, this event introducing the CABE Spaceshaper and Spaceshaper 14-19 toolkits should be of interest to you.Spaceshaper, and the newly launched Spaceshaper 9-14 aimed at young people, are practical toolkits that not only measure the quality of a public space, but crucially, capture the views of those who use the space and manage the space in the process.
Hear how a facilitated Spaceshaper workshop explores, in a hands-on, yet structured way, how a space currently works for different people, to establish an evidence base to inform future proposals.
Spaceshaper can help with engaging local people, and young people, in the process of:
• Improving their local spaces
• Fostering a sense of ownership
• Tapping into local knowledge
• Strengthening community links.
