Cakebook Flash Mob Picnic coming soon - bid in the auction to build your favourite Newcastle or Gateshead building from cake
As part of the EAT! NewcastleGateshead festival this summer (12 - 27th June, the same dates as the North East Festival of Architecture), there will be a flash mob picnic around a giant model of Newcastle and Gateshead - made of cake!
Northern Architecture have helped the Eat! festival come up with 100 iconic buildings and structures. They are now looking for 100 teams of professional and amateur cake builders from across the UK and beyond to form an online 'Cakebook' community. This culinary network will trade tips and ideas, share experiences, document their progress, download sugar-craft video clips, attend interactive online workshops and web chats with Cakebook’s Head Pastry Chef and, ultimately, discover the secret 'Flash Mob Picnic' location of the map. At this free finale event, cakes will be brought and placed on a giant map of the NewcastleGateshead urban landscape as Cakebook member’s picnic and party around the perimeter. Prize-winning professional and amateur cakes will be chosen by a panel of experts.
And here is where it all starts...
In January 2010, 100 building plots will be auctioned online with a starting price of 99p, winning bidders will join our new Cakebook website, and then the fun really begins.
Please register on Facebook to attend this event if you'd like a chance to become part of Cakebook. Click here for the Cakebook Facebook page.
