Session details

This second session covered the judging of good design, particularly in relation to planning proposals. The presentations explained design principles and explored the right good-design principles for the Ouseburn area. The session then showed how these agreed design principles could be integrated into an assessment mechanism, similar to Building for LIfe, to help assess planning proposals.

Presentations from this session will be made available on this page to download from Thursday 23rd February. We are currently converting them in to a manageable size for downloading.

Designing Ouseburn's Future

Northern Architecture are offering 3 workshop sessions for people who live, work or play in the Ouseburn, to equip them to assess and comment on building developments seeking planning permission to build in the Ouseburn.

The sessions will bring together a group of people who can form a neighbourhood forum, a legally recognised independent group, who would be routinely consulted about all planning applications in the Ouseburn area.

The sessions will look at identifying what development is welcome in the area and what design standards the community expect of new buildings. Under the guidance of the group, Northern Architecture will produce an assessment toolkit for the group to use when assessing future planning applications.
