Spaces by Design: The Glass-House Design Training courses 2009

Venue and location confirmed on booking
21st and 22nd October (provisional dates)

The Glass-House Community Led Design supports and encourages better working partnerships between communities and professionals who are working together to improve the quality of a neighbourhood.

Amongst other activities, we provide Free Design Training for community groups who are leading on a regeneration project – including:
•    open spaces and play areas,
•    housing and community buildings.

In NewcastleGateshead, we are partnering with Northern Architecture and the Bureau of Design Research (Sheffield University) to deliver a Glass-House Space and Play by Design course. The proposed dates for this course are 21st and 22nd October.

This is a practical design course for groups who have an idea for a communal space, park or play area in their neighbourhood they would like to improve, and who want to explore how they could make a change.

On this course you will -
•    visit inspiring spaces and play projects and the people who made them happen
•    look at how design affects the quality of play and open spaces
•    explore ways to involve young people and adults from your community
•    discover the potential and the pitfalls of your site
•    work with design professionals
•    develop an action plan to take your project forward
•    create a presentation of your ideas to take back and share
